15th of December 2009 - TODAY'S THE DAY

Picture

YAY! Today's the day!
Since our plane leaves later in the afternoon I can write a quick message to y'all now. I am preparing to be SUPER tired because the flight plus the stop-overs are the equivalent of 24 hours! Please pray for me and my family, mainly for protection and safety. Also because I will be away for 3 weeks I will miss out on three weeks of my holidays. During that time one of my BEST friends and her family are preparing to leave for a mission work in Vanuatu for 4 years. They leave about a week after I come back. Please pray that they will have safety in packing and that they vwill enjoy these last times in their home and family's arms. Loving and missing you already,
Ash

Hey Everyone!!!
I have safely arrived in Denmark there is about 10 hours time difference so it's kinda hard to catch up with people. I guess I will have to stick with e-mails, and my blog. We arrived at the airport at around 6:30am, It was as dark as midnight. When arrived at my brothers apartment it was about 7:00am and still as dark as night. We sat and chatted for about and hour or 2. And at about 8:00am you could probably go outside and read. But it still wasn't ´super´ light. I've found out that it's only light for about 8 hours per day. Today it started snowing while we were sitting and chatting I stood up snuffed the candles and stuck my head out the window trying to get the feel, touch and taste of snow. Because I have never seen snow before this was an AMAZING experience. I will remember that moment for my entire life. Remember to stop and take in the little things of life.
Love you and Miss you,
Ash

Hey Everyone,
Cold as ever over here but I am surviving. Last night we had 10cm of snow, so now I really am dreaming of a white Christmas!! Today we went to see the Little Meremaid (A Statue), Royal Palaces (There is 4), Changing of th guard (It was only a glimpse of it though), Marble Church (GORGEOUS) and the Christmas markets (Along a Canal called Nyhavn - Pronounced - knew - harven). If you want to know EXACTLY what I am talking about you could probably look them up on google images. I was wearing undies (Of course =D), a long-sleeved shirt and a short-sleeved shirt. A knee-length skirt, thick stokings, full-length leggings, skarf, leather gloves, beanie, ear-muffs, woolen cardigan and  thick jacket with a hood which was up over my head, ohh and NON-waterproof boots. But get this I was STILL cold, I know it's hard to imagine in summer weather but over here it is USEUALLY 0 degree's OR cloder, but today it was -3 degree's celcius. I LOVE snow and because of it I was running around in it having a GREAT time!!! but as you know snow=ice and ice=water, water is wet and NON-water proof items let water through. I think you know what I am talking about now...right? My feet were so num by the time lunch came around, I could barely feel my toes. At this point in time my brother asked me if I still liked the snow......What would you say? What would you say? I said YES!! I love the snow, even though it coused me GREAT discomfort. As I told a freind, I would move here anyday.... just as long as I have a pair of water-proof boots and some socks! =D I love you and miss y´all! I konw that I have already received e-.mails from some people I know but I would love to hear from everybody. Thanks or Tuk to all who aready have been in contact with me.
Love yous,
Ash

Hello Australia and the world!!!
Today we decided to go to Rosenborg Castle and Gardens. We caught the train to a nearby station and then walked through the gardens. Even thoug it was winter there were still some pretty roses around. As we neared the entrance we started to wonder if it was open yet. We arrived at the door and found that it would open in half an hour. Thankfully accross the road was the National Art Gallery of Copenhagen. We walked through the many galleries for about 2 hours then stopped for coffee at a cafe called 'Cafe Repulic'. As we were eatibg our cakes and drinkng our hot chocolates or coffeeswe looked up and saw something that resembled a big balloon, inside we saw a girl. Because actually this was a big ball ballon that you could go inside and lie in. The balloon was about 15 - 20 metres ff te ground I might say AND see through. Once we had finished my brother and I walked uo to the platform to ener the balloon where we were told that we were not aloud to wear your shoes or aloud to take in any sharp objects with you oh and you are not aloud to stand up in it. As you enter the balloon the scariest part is that first step. Everthing wobbles and the floor of the balloon lowers significantly. Then you crall on you hands and knees to the center where you lie on your back / chest or you stand on your hands and knees. It was AWESOME!!!! After the balloon experiance we left the gallery and headed back up to Rosenborg Castle which was now open. If you were wondering why this castle is so significant, it is beacuse it is the home to many of the crown jewels. It also had some of the royal items of that time. I had yet another great day aand plan to have more.
Love you and Miss you,
Ash

Yo Peoples,
Today we went to the ´Round Tower´ what's this you may ask. Well first of all you could look it up on google but I'll give you a review the best I can. Ok what the 'Round Tower' basically is a tower with hallways that twist and turn a,ll the way to the top. Now the relevance of this tower, in the time of King Christian the 4th they did not have stong telescopes as we do now so they needed a tall place that they would be able to clearly observe the stars. It has a beutiful veiw of Copenhagen and today is used as a lookout over Copenhagen. After that were planning to go to Christianhavn (Pronounced christian-houn)but as we were walking we walked past an old palace called Christiansborg. Under the palace are the ruins of the previous palaces. We expected a small room of remains but basically they could have filled a house. It was quite interesting. There were 1 palace that was burnt down and rebuilt then burnt down again 56 years later because of the same reason. But the funny thing was that the steward of the palace had just finished polishing the floors when the fire-fighters arrived and asked permission to go into the 'Great Hall' the steward said no because he din't want them to dirty the floors again. How stange is that? Anyway that's practically all I did today.
Love y'all,
Ash

Hi Everyone,
You'd think I would learn not to run around in the snow like a crazy idiot... Don't you think? Anyway I haven' told you I'm not going to update on Sundays unless something practically important happens. Also yesterday we went to stay at a friend’s place a little north of Copenhagen city. They have beautiful home, complete with thatched roof, icicles and bird house. Anyway back to what I did today. Well first of all we woke up got ready and had brekky. After all of that we (Me, Ant and a friend of C&C = the friends who we were staying with.)  Decided to go outside explore take some photo’s then come inside again. It didn’t quite work out that way. Well out of the list I just presented we did go outside, we did take some photos and we did explore but the exploring was only really a cool cubby. Those of you who I went to camp with remember like those ropes that we had to climb on? Well this cubby had like its own one of those!!! how cool is THAT!!! Anyway as I was climbing down the ne my leg got stuck so I basically was hanging with my knees while Ant held up my head and shoulders. Eventually he did get me down... you are AMAZING ‘King Mou’ =D. Anyway after I found my feet we ended up in BIG snow fight so we all got reasonably wet. So as we left the house to drop C&C’s friend off at the station my socks started to soak up the water again. Thankfully the art gallery that we were headed to - Louisiana, had some socks for sale. My feet were soon warm again. As we were walking through the gallery there were a number of interactive exhibits making our time more enjoyable. I have never seen that kind of thing in Australia, please let me know if you have. My favourite piece of art in the exhibit was called ´Everything I have’ and basically it was showing everything that they had it was pretty trendy. The trip to the gallery was over before it had begun but I had a WONDERFUL time.
Love and Miss you all,
Ash

Hi Everybody,
Guess what? Today we thought ahead... we brought an EXTRA pair of socks. We went to Helsingør, this was an old town with GREAT cafes and Kronborg, an old ancient castle but I think it should be called a fortress. It was used to collect taxes from all the ships that were passing through to Sweden. It was quite the money maker. The castle itself seems quite plain compared with Rosenborg but the tapestries that decorated the halls, walls, bedrooms were one of the best displays I have ever seen. They were quite exquisite. We left Kronborg castle and headed back to Helsingør where we saw a possible Christmas present for C&C. Once we had bought the present we headed back to the cafe that we had had morning tea at. We arrived and ordered several different types of smørbrod (Roast Beef, Sausage, Ham, and Pork). Just to let you know it was 4:00pm in the afternoon. The waitress came back and told us “I’m sorry we don’t have pork or sausage...” We replied”Ok, instead we’ll have another Roast beef and Salami.” The waitress returned to the kitchen and soon returned yet again instead this time she said, “I’m sorry we don’t have any salami either!” By that time I was ready to say “Never mind I’ll just have cake.” Thank-fully they did have Roast beef so I ordered that instead. By that time it was 5:00pm. We caught the train back to C&C’s place where they picked us up. This is the end of yet another wonderful day in Denmark.
Merry Christmas World,
Ash

22nd of December 2009 - 3 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS

Picture
Yallo,
Today we are having a lazy day. I've been sitting down with a hot chocolate and  just simply watching the snow fall. On a couple of occasions I have seen the shape of a snowflake and it has completely BLOWN ME AWAY!!! It is amazing the complexity of their design... and get this, every single one is different!!! God is SO amazing there are no words to describe the depth or width of his greatness. He designed the entire world yet he stopped and created flowers, and every single snowflake. We think mans art can be beautiful but yet we look at the earth and think this is just nature.
There can be no comparison with an artist’s painting and God’s creation other than that they have put it in such a great light.
While I was walking through Louisiana I saw things that I never imagine being called art. I looked out the widow and said to Ant “They should put up a sign that says - Creation by God.” This is just something to think about for today.

Love you,
From the Girl in the Picture =D

24th and 25th of December 2009 - CHRISTMAS EVE AND DAY

Picture
Howdy,
Today was is the 24th. Traditionally in Australia this would be Christmas Eve, while over here the 24th is considered Christmas. So first you would go to a Christmas service at your local church then you spend the afternoon with your family. Christmas dinner was a big thing and it has to be just Perfect and it was. After dinner you sat around and chatted for a little while. Then the house owners would shoo everyone out of the room that had the Christmas tree in it and they would light the candles that were on the branches on the tree. Once this was done everyone would come back in and they would admire the tree.  We joined hands and sung Christmas Carols in English and Danish. It was an experience I always want to remember. As the candles burnt down you would open the presents. Now the youngest would hand out the 1st presents and then the next youngest and so on. I was amazed at the consideration of people that I had never met before were giving me these Beautiful presents. So I the message I want to leave with us today and tomorrow is that you need to always be grateful and remember to enjoy every single moment of life.
Merry Christmas to All,
Ash

Hi Everybody,
Sorry about the delay in this update. Any way today we came home from C&C's place at around lunch time. Before I go on I should probably mention the surprise I found in in one of my Christmas presents... My brother hid a ticket to a ballet performance in my card. It was to be held at the Royal Theater. Do you want to know what I saw? Well I'm gonna tell you anyway......... it was the 'Nutcracker' it was AMAZING!!! I really enjoyed myself. Anyway thats about it for today.
Love yous,

28th of December 2009 - 4 MORE DAYS OF 2009

Hey Everyone,
Before I tell you what I did today I should probably tell you what I did last night. I went to Tivoli that's T-I-V-O-L-I for those of you who don't know how to spell it =D. My bro said to me once "Tivoli is beautiful in the daytime but it's
magical at night”, and get this... he was right. There were lights in the trees and seriously it looked as if the fairies moved from the bottom of the garden right into Tivoli. When I come back to Aus I’ll show y’all the pics or I might update them to my website keep on the lookout for them. Anyway what I did today, well we went to Roskilde (Ros-c-hilder) where we went to the Viking ship museum. It was really interesting to learn about their way of life back them. One thing I learnt right at the start was that Vikings were never found wearing hats with horns on them or o narrow it down they have never found a single one with the ships or treasure found with the Vikings. After the museum we went to an Italian Cafe and it was DELICIOUS!!! I don’t know if I have ever tasted Nachos so good!!! After our yummy, yummy lunch we headed to the information centre where we went underground... to the ruins under Roskilde Cathedral. I’ve already told you about the ruins under Christiansborg, they were cool and... old but these ruins were in much better condition and even though there wasn’t much to see but it was still pretty cool. Anyway, the light of the day was almost over as we stopped in at a chocolate shop and brought some chocolate pigs to fill our tum, tums on the train ride home.
Anyway,

Ash

29th of December 2009 - 3 MORE DAYS OF 2009

Picture
Yo Peoples,
Today we went on an hour long train ride to Odense, a picturesque town and the home of Hans Christian Anderson. If you haven’t heard of him before he is the author of Thumbelina, Princess and the Pea, The Emperor’s New Clothes and many other stories for the young and old. We went to his home which is now a museum. Potentially it could’ve been boring but they set it out so well that it wasn’t they presented the information in bite sized pieces that you were able to digest quickly and easily. If you did end up getting bored they had a C.D. with recordings of H.C. Anderson’s many stories, they were really nice to just stop...sit...listen...and...relax. After enjoying the museum we walked through the cobblestone streets of Odense. Not many of the nice Cafe’s seemed to be open so we had to go into the city... eventually we found one. Once we had put away our lunch we headed out to the train museum. It was REALLY cool, mainly because of all the interactive activities... like, games  and trains that will actually feel as if it is moving, and of course you have the old trains that you can look at  but at this museum it had wax figures that gave you a feeling of what it was actually like. At most museum’s you go  to you are only really aloud to look not touch... at this museum you are able to touch and even play with all the controls, go into the trains sit in the seats and everything!!! Anyway I had a really good day and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
That’s about it, For now,

Ash

30th of December 2009 - 2 MORE DAYS OF 2009

Picture
Yallo Blue World,
Today we went to the experimentarium. It’s a science centre, but 10 times bigger than any regular centre. Those of you who went on the Canberra would remember Questicon. It was like that except a lot bigger and there were plenty more interactive activities for you to enjoy, it was awesome fun. There were lots of different themes to go with the activities, one really interesting one was saving third worldchildren, adults and babies or experiencing how they lived and survived without a steady food or water supply. Speaking of water they also had an entire like, water and bubble playground. That was REALLY cool. There were tonnes of other displays that I’ll tell you all about when I come home. By the time we were ready to leave the centre it was already dark and they were switching out the lights on us, I think we were warned but it was in Danish =D. By that time we were really ready to hop on the bus and head home to, warmth and a couple of rounds of Uncharted 2.
Missing y’all,
Ash

31st of December 2009 - LAST DAY OF 2009 (NEW YEARS EVE)

Picture
Hiya Everybody,
Today as we all know is the last day of 2009. A public holiday most shops or touristy places are closed but thankfully there was a gallery called the ‘Ny Carlsberg Glyptotec’ (Ny is always pronounced as new) It is one of Ant’s favourite art galleries. Personally I prefer Louisiana mainly because I prefer canvas and modern art as oppose to ancient or sculpture art but still some of those sculptures were just simply AMAZING! And don’t get me wrong it was really, really good but it was SOOO BIG! By the time we got through the sculptures and the ancient art and reached the art section with Picasso, Van Gogh and Monnet I was seriously arted out! Once we had finished we decided to head back to the cafe and gift shop where we were hoping that we’d either see mum and dad and call them over to sit with us or they would already be there... and they were which was good because it saved us having to search through the entire gallery for them. We decided that Ant and I would go home because we had really had enough. And all the way home we played (and I know this is kiddish but it was awesome fun), you step on a crack you break your mums back... sadly it mums back was broken a couple of times... sorry mum. After we got home I sat down and watched T.V. for a little while Ant made the sauce for delicious lasagna. The lasagna was for a New Year’s party that we were going to. Since it was dark firework were already going off...CONSTANTLY. You don’t need to have a license over here so people just go BIZERK!  As we were walking to the train station dad was asking Ant, “Don’t people get worried about just lighting them off in the street?” At that very moment we were walking past the police station when... yep you got it some fireworks went off... right over the police station. Ant replied to dad “Well apparently they’re not tat worried about the legality of it all” =D! After that we boarded the train and headed out to one super fun New Years Eve.
Hope you had fun too,
Ash

1st Day of 2010

Picture
Heeeeeeeey!!!!!
Today we had a
SUPER lazy day! We didn’t go out at all and I don’t think out of my pajama’s till 3:00pm. Or as Ant says “You got out of you pajama’s only to hop into them again!” But it was good for us, we needed a break. I had a nice day but I don’t think it’s good for me to lie on the couch and watch ‘mythbusters’ all day =D. Any way I don’t think we did anything much worth telling all y’all about. But any ways. It’s getting close to the time we’ll  be coming home.
Missing y’all,
Ash

2nd of January 2010

Picture
Hello,
This is your fashion consultant Miss. Ash... =D Today we went shopping... and I mean shopping, shopping, like a spree except I had a limited money supply. Mum, Dad, Ant I and A&A (Our friends from church) hit the streets at 11am. We went to a tonnes of different shops but the problem was that in Denmark things are a lot more expensive than in Aus because people work for more money. So you might have a really nice skirt or something for $30 at home where as over here it’s $70, that’s where we struggled to actually find, shop then buy. But in all that my favorite shop was called ‘Monsoon’ it had really good prices and the things they sold were good quality. There we bought two very trendy shirts. After Monsoon we headed out to a famous (Well in Denmark anyway) cake shop called ‘Le Glace’ the cakes there were BETTER than sift! You remember sift right? The really good cake shop in Hong Kong. The cakes they sold at Le Glace were SOOO good!!! If I could I’d bring some back home with me, but obviously I can’t it would go bad and it probably wouldn’t get through customs. =D Anyway we were all pretty tired out when we got to Le Glace so we were all talking about what we wanted to do, if anything. I mentioned that I really wanted to get a ‘I love Copenhagen’ Tee. So we looked in a couple or souvenir shops and they had them but we weren’t convinced that, that was the best we could find so we kept looking and we found a GREEN, let me repeat GREEN I love Copenhagen Tee, and it was individual and not like a regular I love ya dee ya dee ya tee =D. So we bought it and yes I know ‘babe’ you would be proud of my choice =D. I had a wonderful day exploring the fashion variety’s of Copenhagen wait before I finish this post I want to tell you about the most interesting or you could say disgusting things of the day. Well first of all I saw a couple of leotards (Or body suits as mum calls them and if that’s what mum says then it’s probably correct =D) black with lime green leggings ewwwwww. Soz babe but you’d agree. Then the worst I saw was semi-transparent!!! And what gets me is that these are on display in regular clothes stores!!!! For EVERYONE to see. Now while we were shopping there were 3 guys with us and they all saw these things too... I think we are all scarred for life!!!!!! =D.
Love you and Missing y’all back home,
Ash

Soo what was I saying... Ohh yeah now I remember today whole I was at home i Nic's apartment she had some visitors they were visiting Hong Kong like us, except they came to Nic's place to play the piano (well actually to practice) But the amount of time she spent sitting at the piano it was astounding!!!!! I would usually sit at the piano for half an hour a day but she literally sat there for TWO!!!!!! That's perseverance and it really made me sad that our culture says that you don't meed to have perseverance in ALL areas of our lives. So next time you do something that takes perseverance remember this.

Today we went to Lana's swimming lesson and boy oh boy it was boring. But not boring just because there was nothing to do but because...To Be Continued...

Ok I'm back... but because we were not aloud to swim in the pool at all, because you had to be a member. The pool looked cool and inviting yet the tall fence that stopped our way just turned this happiness away. So we were left to sit and watch from the hard concrete seats. It was hard although this experiance has taught me to have just a little bit more patience in these areas of our lives.

Hallo,
I haven't done anything yet today so I'll write back later with what I did during the rest of the day.
See yous,
TO BE CONTINUED

Ok, what did I do today?
Well we went shopping with Nicole and Lana's friend and her baby. While we were there we went to a cupcake shop called 'Sift' but even before that we tried to get into another cupcake shop but as we entered the shop we noticed that there were alot of other babies there... Yes you guessed a birthday party was being held there, leaving only 3 seats left in the little cafe not nearly enough room for the for 4 adults, 1 teen and 2 babies. This left us extremely frustrated that we came all this way just to find that a party was being held there, I mean seriously how would you feel? But I am thankful that I know God and that he has given me the self-control that I needed in situations like this, to be able to take control of my frustratedness and just simply get over it!!! At that point Nicole's friend pointed out that there was another cupcake cafe upstairs.
And if you were wondering the cupcakes were the bomb!!!! I totally recommend it to everybody that goes to Hong Kong.

Because that's what today's post is all about. You know how I learnt to crochet? Well I was recently doing some and I made a mistake but I didn't notice so I kept on going for a little while until I noticed that I had made a mistake and you'd think that that would aggravate me enough  as i undid it I went further than I should have ARRRRRRRR!!!!! Meaning that i would have to go further than I could have if I hadn't undone so much!!!! Ok so what do I do?What would YOU do?? Think about it.I will update soon...
...TO BE CONTINUED...

I had to have patience and I know that I have talked about having patience and self-control alot lately because they are some of the most important things in life. So remember these things in you personal walk with God.

24th of October 2009 - IN HONG KONG AND IT'S LANA'S BIRTHDAY (1 DAY TILL HOME)

Picture
YAY!!! Today is Lana's birthday!!!
So lets sing for her...on 3... 1,2,3... Happy Birthday to yoooou, Happy Bithday to yooooou, Happy Birhtday dear Laaaaanaaaaa!!! Happy Birthday toooo yoooou!!!!! Wow I will probably never do this again to much typing. Anyway her party is at 3:00pm this afternoon. It will be GREAT lots of kids!!!! And if you didn't know I love children one day I'm going to be a teacher. Maybe but my plans might change, because I gave God complete control of my life. Sometimes if you have a little baby brother or sister and your mum is in the kitchen they will see the stove and think to themselves ohhh that looks interesting let me go and touch it!!!! But mum comes in and tries to save the day. Wait lets picture it this way God can be the mum and the baby can be us a God's children. Anyway what was I saying... oh yeah that's right mum comes in to save the day but a she picks the child up he/she starts SCREAMING the only way possible to calm them down is to let them touch it, do when the baby's hand reaches the plate and feels the heat it learns it's lesson. Sometimes as Christians we don't know what's good for us even though God is trying to protect us. The lesson here is to simply trust God in all of your circumstances and let him be the king of your life.
Let's Trust God,
Ash

I have shed tears of Laughter and tears of sadness at how quickly my baby niece has grown up. I want to especially thank my brother-in-law who has been playing 'Uncharted 2' and only played the game while we were up and with him, I really enjoyed this time with you. Hope you have had as much as much fun as I have,
From an EXTREMELY thankful sister,

I have arrived safely in Australia but due to homework and tiredness I was unable to update my website to all the faithful readers out there I am sorry but yet grateful that you continued to check my blog even though I hadn't updated for 4 days. I will be forever grateful... :D Well you are probably wondering (Unless you haven't asked me already) how my trip was, right?
Well I had a wonderful time!!!! I missed you all very much...
Loving you,
Ash
